Garry Morrow, International Service Chair introduced the visiting delegation from District 4600 in Brazil.

·        Gina Mancini De Almeida, the team leader, is a physician specializing in angiology and vascular echography. She comes from the Volta Redonda club.

·        Carolina Magno Correa is an architect from Sao Jose dos Campos.

·        Kitiah de Assis Magalhaes is a school psychologist and teacher from Volta Redonda.

·        Pedro Ivo de Sousa Tau comes from Caraguatatuba where he is the head public administrator in the city hall.

The team introduced themselves, their families and their activities (with pictures shown with our club’s new digital projector).  Their District 4600 covers the coastal region of Brazil ranging from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo.  The entire country contains 2268 Rotary Clubs with nearly 50,000 members.

Good use was made of a PowerPoint presentation with musical accompaniment to present Brazil, its multi-racial society, diet, sports, music and dance.  The original population was South American Indian, with Portuguese added during the Age of Discovery. They in turn imported African slaves, followed by more recent immigration from Italy, Germany and Asia.  Brazil is proud of its diverse society.  Pork and beans are favored foods.  Brazil is a leading country in many sports including soccer.  It is famous for the samba and for its celebration of Carnival.

The presentation closed with a musical slide show with side-by-side pictures of life in Brazil and the United States.

The photo is of Garry Morrow, our four Brazilian guests, and their Rotary District 7190 hosts.
