Sandy Kominoski reported that she is planning a club
garage sale on 7 October and is seeking a venue.

Ken Crotty appealed for contributions to the Rotary
Foundation
·
Ken reported that the rumor that the Millstone Lodge
is up for sale is false, and that we should take care to dispel it with
others. We need our meeting place!
·
Dick O’Rourke announced that copies of the 2006
Entertainment Book have arrived. The
price is $30. The books can be used
immediately, and are valid through 31 October 2007. We earn 20% of the price, and will receive a
$116 bonus is we sell 104 books this year.
·
President Linda extended thanks to the Whettens for
hosting the Board of Directors meeting.
·
Bob Youmans led the singing of I Had a Dream.
·
Doug Turpin resumed his Happy Dollars duties,
finishing with a suitably outrageous joke about a taciturn husband and a
falling wife.
·
Val Mosier reported that a fund raiser will be held
for St Jude’s hospital tomorrow.
·
Gini Whetten delivered a Rotary minute based on
George Bernard Shaw’s True Story of Life,
and a Chinese fable about the value of “cracked pots” to society.
·
Ron Serapilio introduced our speaker, Peter L. Aust,
who has been the president and CEO of the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County
since 2001. He has been involved in
leadership positions of various chambers of commerce throughout his career,
both as a volunteer and board officer.
He is active in the Kiwanis Club and has been honored with a life
membership for his work as lieutenant governor with responsibility for 18
clubs.
The Disney Company is a legend for
its organizational excellence, achieved in part through the activities of the
Disney Institute. Their programs
emphasize leadership, management, service and loyalty. The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County is
welcoming the Disney Institute Keys to
Excellence Program to the Capital Region on Wednesday 27 September, from
7:30 to 4:30 at the
The Capital Region Disney Keys
program has four 90-minute sessions:

Disney Style –
Participants discover how effective leadership has been the catalyst at Disney
to drive employee/customer satisfaction and bottom-line results, from the
company’s inception to today.
·
Management,
Disney Style –
Participants examine the importance of integrating an organization’s corporate
culture in selection, training and care.
·
Service, Disney
Style – Participants
explore world-renowned Disney principles for service excellence.
·
Loyalty, Disney
Style – Participants
learn key practices and principles in building and sustaining loyalty that have
made Disney a trusted and revered brand around the world for more than 75
years.
There are seats for 400
participants of which half have been taken to date. The fee of $369 includes the entire day of
four sessions, and breakfast and lunch.
One complementary seat is granted for each 5 seats purchased. The individual sessions are available for $99
each.
The Chamber of Southern Saratoga
County has promotional materials for getting the word out.
Mr. Aust closed by expressing his
enthusiasm for the recent news that Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) will be
building a chip facility in the county.
There will be changes and exciting benefits for the community.
