Text Box: Introduction of New Officers and Annual Recap

Rey Whetten first led a review of the successes of the past year.  Of special note were the awards given for two major projects that were new to Rotary in 2006.

First was the successful Mentoring Program at the BH-BL O’Rourke Middle School. This program was conceived and coordinated by Mary Anderson, who worked tirelessly to see this project to fruition.  It was widely seen as a great success by teachers, administrators, Rotary members, and students alike.  We look forward to further developing this program next year.

Next were Paul Lewandowski, Steve Caine, Linda LeTendre and all the Rotarians who made the first annual Golf Tournament so successful.   Despite the weather not cooperating with us, the tournament was well organized and well attended. We again want to acknowledge the generosity of Hannaford supermarket.  There is a wealth of interest in next year’s tournament and many good ideas about how to make it even better next year.

Also recognized were fund raiser organizers Sandra Kominoski for the Pancake Breakfast, Ron Serapilio for the Apple Pie Festival, Paul Lewandowski for the Apple Run 5K race and Mary Anderson and Val Mosier for another beautiful Town in Bloom project.

Dan Stec, as area assistant governor of Area 5 led the swearing-in of new officers of the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Rotary Club.

·    President:  Linda LeTendre

·    President Elect:  Ron Serapilio

·    President Elect Nominee:  Mark Gasparovic

Linda took the opportunity to recognize the outgoing President, Rey Whetten, to acknowledge some of the major accomplishments that took place under his leadership, including the Wellness Van, and the increase in giving.  We accomplished the first district matching grant, and our purchase of two Water Buffalos for the Pakistan Project.  Also recognized were the many contributions of “First Lady” Gini including her work publishing the Rotateller, thank you notes, business cards, invitations, stationary, a new membership brochure, event posters and much more.

Past Committee Chairs and Officers recognized include:

·          Community Service Chair, Mark Gasparovic, who highlighted the trail clean-up, bridge project and painting of the buildings at Clover Patch.

·          Club Service/ Administration Chair, Val Mosier.

·          Vocational Service, Bob Youmans who led us in work with the Charlton Nurses Association Christmas Giving/ Tree Lighting and Holiday Concert.

·          International Service, Garry Morrow and Mary Anderson

·          Membership: Ron Serapilio, who was heralded by our new president as “the best I have ever seen.”  Ron’s work on new membership “sets an example for the entire district.”

·          Secretary, Bill Lonergan, was recognized for his diligence and dedication.

·          Treasurer, Ken Crotty highlighted that our donations over the year were in the range of $12,000 to $14,000.  He also presented the budget for 2006-2007 and led the ensuing discussion.
