·   Bob Youmans delivered the invocation in the form of a poem by Nancy Tant.

·   Rey Whetten introduced his guest, Chuck Alsdorf.’

·   Ron Serapilio introduced two guests, his wife, Lila and Don Boucher.  Don, like Ron, is a music teacher.

·   Bob Youmans led the singing of When I Wore a Tulip.

·   Doug Turpin collected Happy Dollars reminding us that “Rotarians are courteous, kind, loving and listen to what their neighbors are happy about.”  Many of those present expressed their happiness because the Town of Ballston has named their town hall addition after Bill Sewell.

·   Bill McClary delivered a Rotary Minute with the recollection that he had moved to Burnt Hills 40 years ago because of the excellent school district, which he attributes to Bill Sewell.

Announcements:

·   Rey Whetten reminded the meeting about the Gift of Live program in which Rotary brings a third-world child to this area for needed corrective cardiac surgery. Rotary pays the travel and living expenses while the Albany Medical Center provides treatment at their expense.  It was noted that Stan Garrison is donating part of his book revenue to this cause.  The recent District putting contest raised about $400 of which $280 came from the BH-BL Club.

·   The Apple Run will be held on October 22nd.

·   Ken Crotty announced that the club is sending a working party to Clover Patch on Saturday 24 September to disassemble 2 old bridges.  Bring your demolition tools!  The project will be rescheduled in the event of pouring rain.

·   Rey Whetten relayed an announcement from Mike Welshhans about two benefit concerts to be presented by the band UK Burners.  The first is at Saratoga raceway on Saturday and the second at the Pepsi Arena on Sunday.  Proceeds will go to New Orleans Katrina relief.

·   All members should have received a mailing from the District regarding the Paul Harris dinner to be held on Friday 21 October at Fort William Henry in Lake George.

·   The Rotary Leadership Institute will be holding leadership courses this fall and spring.  The nearest will consist of Parts I, II and III at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs on Saturday 12 November.  Details are available in their brochure and at www.rotaryleadershipinstitute.org.

·   Please be advised that Jenny Pennington is doing well, sends regards to all and plans to return to Rotary soon. Her e-mail address is now: pennington 2276@cs.com. It will be updated on the back of the Rotateller next week.
