Bob Youmans delivered the invocation in the form of
a poem by Nancy Tant.

Rey Whetten introduced his guest, Chuck Alsdorf.’

Ron Serapilio introduced two guests, his wife, Lila
and Don Boucher. Don, like Ron, is a
music teacher.

Bob Youmans led the singing of When I Wore a
Tulip.
·
Doug Turpin collected Happy Dollars reminding us
that “Rotarians are courteous, kind, loving and listen to what their neighbors
are happy about.” Many of those present
expressed their happiness because the Town of

Bill McClary delivered a Rotary Minute with the
recollection that he had moved to Burnt Hills 40 years ago because of the
excellent school district, which he attributes to Bill Sewell.

Rey Whetten reminded the meeting about the Gift of
Live program in which Rotary brings a third-world child to this area for needed
corrective cardiac surgery. Rotary pays the travel and living expenses while

The Apple Run will be held on October 22nd.

Ken Crotty announced that the club is sending a
working party to Clover Patch on Saturday 24 September to disassemble 2 old
bridges. Bring your demolition
tools! The project will be rescheduled
in the event of pouring rain.

Town-in-Bloom Recognition
Outstanding
participants in the Town-in-Bloom floral beautification program were honored
during the 20 September meeting. A
plaque was presented by Val Mosier recognizing the spectacular impatiens and
delicious vegetables grown and served at The Good Times Restaurant by Hugh, Desiré, and Hugh Jr. Fabini.
Mary
Anderson, our Town in Bloom leader acknowledged the results achieved by Sharon
Marshall, Carol Caracciolo, Kathy Rogers, Gini Whetten, Rey Whetten and Bill
Lonergan. The “Tidy Friday” team which
tended the several Rotary community gardens every week received tee shirts
appropriately emblazoned with Town in Bloom and the Rotary logo. In addition president Rey was presented with
a customized Rotary weed bucket to be used next season.
Note: A presentation on Serotta
competition bicycles had been planned for the 20 September meeting. It was not held due to scheduling
difficulties.
