“Wellness Express” Support Sought from Neighbor Clubs
President-Elect Rey reported that the Board of Directors has decided to try to solicit contributions to Community Human Service’s “Wellness Express” from the
Glenville, Ballston Spa, and Milton Rotary Clubs.  Seniors in these three communities share the benefits of CHS’s transportation service with our own residents.  Our club’s
$3,000 contribution is not sufficient to purchase a necessary replacement van, so our BOD decided it should communicate with these other clubs to alert them to the
benefits of  the“Wellness Express” and the need for a new vehicle if  the service is to be continued.

Rotary Foundation Campaign Continues
Board of Directors members Ken Crotty and Val Mosier discussed the the club’s support for the Rotary Foundation and the BOD’s decision on to how to distribute “proxy” points leading to Paul Harris Fellow recognition. Ken said that there are eight club members who have contributed to Rotary Foundation but still
lack sufficient points to qualify as Paul Harris Fellows.  (During the meeting Sandra Kominoski became the ninth member in this category.)  The Club will make a
matching contribution for these members and award them matching point credits.  Ken indicated that contributing members who have already achieved Paul Harris
Fellow status can nominate any individual to receive the points accrued by their contribution or, if  they choose to do so, permit the BOD to apply  these “proxy”
points to a member seeking Fellow status.

Val recounted that when he became a Paul Harris Fellow some years back, he hadn’t been aware of the source of the $1,000 worth of points necessary for eligibility.  Nor did he have a clear idea of the work of the Rotary Foundation.  He now knows what he didn’t know then: that other members had contributed their “proxy” points to accord him this honor.  Val says that deciding to contribute to RF is a relatively simple matter.  It is “nothing more than a chance to contribute to another worthy cause”, such as many do regularly with church, CHS, Charlton School, or other worthwhile service organizations.

Members who want to contribute to RF should present to Club Treasurer Ken Crotty a check made out to “The Rotary Foundation” for any amount they wish.  Ken will assist with the paper work.  The contribution qualifies as an income tax deduction, and the donor will receive a receipt for tax purposes. The Club has established a $4,200 goal for RF contributions this year.
